MPS I or Hurler's syndrome, Hurler-Scheie and Scheie

If you have just heard that you, a family member or a friend is suffering from Hurler's syndrome, Hurler-Scheie or Scheie, this is probably the first time you have this condition. Hurler's syndrome, Hurler-Scheie or Scheie, now known as MPS I (mucopolysaccharidosis type I), is a relatively rare condition not known to the general public. Until recently, many health experts knew little about the disease. It goes without saying that the lack of familiarity and information caused the necessary anxiety in families where someone was suffering from MPS I.

A lot has changed in recent years. Doctors and other healthcare professionals pay more attention to MPS I. The research conducted over decades has led to new treatment methods, including the development of drugs, which can reverse a number of important symptoms or slow the course of the disease or changed.
